Consolidation and Restoration of the Former Convent of the Servite Fathers
Year: 2014
Location: Tardate (VA)
The former convent of the Servite Fathers in Tradate is a significant historical complex requiring targeted interventions to ensure the preservation and usability of its spaces. This project focuses on the restoration of severely deteriorated structures and lays the groundwork for the subsequent repurposing of the spaces.
The intervention consists of various phases, including the reconstruction of the roof and preliminary structural reinforcements.
LOAD-BEARING WALLS
• Widespread cracks and collapses caused by structural issues and humidity.
• Degradation of the masonry.
COLONNADE
• The masonry and stone columns show structural defects and surface degradation.
STRUCTURAL CONSOLIDATION OF VERTICAL WALLS
• Implementation of the “scuci e cuci” technique with reinforcements to close cracks.
• Installation of tie rods to stabilize the structures.
The planned interventions will ensure:
• Preservation of Historical Heritage: By repairing the structures and preventing further damage.
•Usability of Spaces: Enabling the reopening of ground-floor areas for cultural and community events.
The restoration of the former convent of the Servite Fathers is a project that combines preservation and enhancement, respecting the historical and structural features of the building.
This intervention represents a crucial step in protecting a long-abandoned cultural asset, promoting its revitalization and use as a space open to the community.
